Whether you’re wanting light, bright, creamy blonde hair, or wanting to cover that never-ending growing regrowth without having a scalp lighten or a full colour? Then foiling may be the best option for you!
Foiling is a technique where the hair is sectioned into small pieces and wrapped in foil to aid in the colour processing and keep the delicate sections separated. Foiling allows the product to penetrate deeper into the hair and is best for lightening dark hair shades or evenly distributing color on your hair compared to balayage.
Any colour can be chosen to be applied in a foil from blonde, to blue to red to purple depending on what result you would like to achieve.
Foils can create a sharper dramatic look, or also provide an elegant subtle glow.
This process creates a root to end change unlike the balayage counterpart, however foiling is still versatile and can achieve a variety of delicious results to suit many desired dream hair goals! So depending on your exact goal, foiling may be the perfect approach for you.
Are you wanting a low maintenance, natural sunkissed look? Then balayage may be the best option for you!
Balayage is an entirely different technique to foiling, it is applied with freehand technique and then is either processed in the open air or while covered with a foil or film. If your stylists used your natural root colour or a root-tap at your natural level, balayage makes for a low-maintenance look as your natural hair will grow fairly seamlessly into the highlights.
Balayage is the technique used, and not the colour used. You can have a blond balayage to a brunette balayage, to a unicorn coloured balayage.
To keep hair looking fresh, shiny and healthy it’s best to come in every 4-8 weeks for a toner, treatment and blow-dry between colour appointments.
Want the soft natural blend of a balayage, but want the blonde lighter and slightly more defined effect of foils? Foilyage may be the answer!
Being a blend of balayage and foils, foilyage can offer the-low maintenance of balayage giving that natural grown out effect and the soft flutter of highlights that foils offers. The end result gives your stunning gentle highlights instead of the traditional balayage freehand technique that results in a more solid block of highlights!
While the gorgeous depth of a root stretch is forgiving on re-growth, maintaining the brightness of your blonde with a toner, treatment and blow-dry between colour appointments will keep you feeling fresh for longer!
